Change in sickness benefit: Starting in March, companies will have to pay for the first 30 days of medical leave

According to the new rule, as of 03/1/2015, the period for leaving work to generate sickness benefit, paid by the INSS, went from 15 to 30 days.

Another novelty in relation to sickness benefit was the regulation of a new calculation of the benefit. The amount of sick pay will be limited to the average of the last 12 wages. (and cannot exceed the value of the social security ceiling)

More changes in social security legislation:

The death pension, for example, will have a 24-month grace period, that is, the benefit will only be granted to the spouse, partner or companion if the insured, when dying, has contributed to Social Security for that minimum period . Before, this benefit had no grace period, the beneficiary was entitled to receive the pension from a single monthly contribution from the insured. The deadline for this change to take effect is 60 days.
