Provisional measure prohibits automatic union contribution discount

Provisional measure published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union makes it clear that the union contribution can only be collected with workers' authorization. The text states that the permission must be individual, express and in writing.

With the measure, it is forbidden to directly discount wages by companies. From now on, the fee will be paid by ticket, sent to workers only with prior authorization.

The labor reform, approved in 2017, ended the mandatory union contribution. However, there are still cases of discounts on workers' paychecks. According to the Special Secretary for Social Security and Labor, Rogério Marinho, the measure also intends to prevent unions from going to court to circumvent the legislation.
