Revenue studies system to unify statements

The IRS presented a project to reduce the costs of declarations made by companies, improve inspection and increase the collection of taxes. Initially called the Public Digital Bookkeeping System (Sped), it intends to unify the information that companies must declare to the IRS, the Ministry of Labor, Caixa Econômica Federal and the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

As planned, starting in January 2014, companies will, in a single digital document, include the data that must be provided to these bodies.

By creating a single database among the four agencies, the government hopes to reduce the costs of companies, especially small businesses, as there are expenses with documents, such as payroll. The intention is to create a “digital version of the payroll and other tax, social security and labor information in a standardized manner”, explained the representative of the Revenue at the Board meeting.
